The BioCork Catchall is an experiment in color, process and material. One advantage to casting cork versus milling it that excited me was this possibility of dying different buckets of granulate different colors such as red and blue in this case and mixing them together to create a sort of speckled look that would not be possible to create through other means. I mixed this batch of cork with a gelatin based bio-resin that is completely natural as opposed to most cork binders.
This project also experimented with the molding process, as it was the first project of mine to use a 3D printed mold which allowed for much greater accuracy and formal potential than fabricating a mold from something like plywood.
